The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for Tamil Nadu. A yellow warning indicating light rainfall has been issued for Kanniyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Tiruppur, Tenkasi, Thoothukkudi and Tirunelveli districts in the southern state. For the capital Chennai, the weatherman in his forecast predicted light rain during the day.
The Met Office warned of waterlogging in some areas and warned that traffic could be affected in several places.
In its forecast, the IMD also said that Tamil Nadu, Kerala and nearby islands will experience widespread rains in the coming days. Light to moderate rainfall along with thundershowers is likely over parts of Tamil Nadu on November 12, 17 and 18. Kerala and Mahe are also expected to experience similar rain on November 12 and 13, while coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema could witness heavy showers on November 17 and 18.
Fishermen in Tamil Nadu have been advised not to venture into the sea until further notice due to the possibility of strong winds over the coastal area.
“Dense rain clouds have formed over the coastal areas of Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram districts. Very heavy rainfall is expected and the wind speed over the sea may reach up to 55 kmph. Following this development, steady rainfall will occur in Thoothukudi and its suburban areas for over an hour,” the IMD said.

November 15: A mostly cloudy sky, occasionally light rain is expected. Temperatures will remain mild and a light breeze will contribute to the humid atmosphere.
November 16: The forecast is partly cloudy with a chance of one or two showers or thunderstorms. Showers may develop in the afternoon or evening.
November 17: It is likely to be cloudy with periods of heavy rainfall. The day will be significantly cooler and wetter than earlier in the week.
November 18: Cloudy skies with occasional light rain are expected. Temperatures will remain stable, no major fluctuations are expected.
November 19: Cloudy with light rain likely during the day. It will remain humid but relatively comfortable in temperature.
