
The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning predicting an active rainy season this week for northwest India with maximum activity from March 29 to March 30. It has predicted isolated heavy rains or snowfall for the Kashmir Valley on March 30.
Orange warning of heavy rains is in effect for Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.
The latest IMD weather bulletin states, “The wet season is likely to continue over northwest India during the week with maximum activity on March 29-30 and isolated heavy rain/snowfall over Kashmir Valley on March 30, 2026.”
The Meteorological Office has further noted the possibility of scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Northeast and adjoining East India during this week, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. The Meteorological Department predicted isolated heavy falls over northeast India during most days of the week: “Isolated rainfall along with thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds are likely to continue over south India during the week.”
Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are on orange alert on March 30 due to heavy rains.
“Isolated to Scattered light to moderate showers with thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds reaching speed (30-50 km/h with gusts up to 60 km/h) likely over Punjab till March 30. Similar weather conditions are likely over Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan till March 31. Isolated hailstorm also likely over Jammu-Kashmir and West Rajasthan on 29th Himachal Pradesh, Punjab & Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi on 29th & 30th; Uttarakhand & East Rajasthan on 30th, IMD said.

A yellow rain warning is in effect for Delhi. The IMD has issued a downpour warning in the next 2 hours for nearby regions, including Haryana’s Fatehabad, Barwala, Adampur, Hissar and Hansi.
The IMD has forecast “generally cloudy skies” for Sunday with very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds from morning to mid-morning and again from afternoon to evening.
The maximum temperature is likely to be between 30°C and 32°C, while the minimum temperature will be around 20°C to 22°C. The minimum temperature will be above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Delhi and the maximum temperature will be close to normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C), the IMD said.
