
Dense fog is expected in Manipur and Odisha today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Bengaluru forecast calls for highs of 23°C and lows of 18°C with fog, signaling the onset of cooler winds and reduced visibility early in the morning.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely at isolated places over Karnataka today.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and Telangana today, the IMD said.
“The state is likely to experience a cold to severe cold wave in the last days of December. Temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius may be recorded in districts, especially Adilabad,” Telangana Today quoted K Nagaratna, IMD Hyderabad chief as saying.
Schools closed in Puducherry
According to Home and Education Minister A. Namassivayam, all schools, private and government-aided, in the four regions of Puducherry are closed today. In a statement, the minister said the holiday was declared as a precaution due to heavy rains expected from Cyclone Ditwah.
Meanwhile, the Shimla Meteorological Office on Sunday has forecast rain and snow in the mid and high hills of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday and Friday (November 4-5). A yellow warning has been issued for dense fog expected late night around parts of Bhakra Dam in Bilaspur district and also in some areas of Balh Valley in Mandi district from today to Wednesday.
Weather in Delhi
This November was Delhi’s coldest in five years, with night temperatures falling to 8°C, the lowest in three years, and the monthly average minimum reaching 11.5°C, a PTI report said. This year, according to the data, the lowest temperature in the city was 8 °C, compared to 9.5 °C last year and 9.2 °C in 2023. The average minimum temperatures in previous years were 14.7 °C in 2022, 12 °C in 2023, 12.3 °C in 2022 and 11.9 °C in 2021.
The department has forecast shallow fog for today. In Delhi, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 23°C and 25°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to be between 8°C and 10°C. Lows are likely to be close to normal, while highs are expected to remain 1-2°C below normal.
