Days after the comedian Samay Raina appeared before the crime branch Guwahati about his Youtube show “India Got Latent”, the Minister of Information Union and Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasized the need to understand social responsibility.
According to the CNN News18 report, which spoke at the event, Vaishnaw said: “We all live in a particular cultural context. We all have friends, neighbors, children, all are connected together.”
Minister I & B in commentary on content creation, especially comedy and jokes, said, “As technology users, whether we are content creators or we are technology, we should understand what our responsibility is and we should try to be …. I would say as citizens or users, we should try and find out what the whole boundary should be.
“If you are in your own living room with 4-5 persons, these jokes would be very different from a platform where you basically send all over the world what you want to say. Then we have to understand that we live in a social context. I would say we should understand it as social responsibility,” he added.
Samay Raina and India have a latent line
On April 6, Samay Raina’s comedian appeared in front of the crime branch of Guwahati in terms of allegedly promotion of obscenity and vulgar content through his YouTube “India Got Late”.
He previously informed the Guwahati police that he would not be able to appear before them because he was from India for his comedy tour.
Later, however, he visited the Guwahati crime branch to record his statement by the investigative officer.
Police Guwahati 10 February registered companies against youtubers and social influences, namely Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and more, to support obscenity and involvement in sexual and vulgar discussion in the show.
The Guwahati Crime branch registered the case under various sections of the IT Act, the Cinematography Act and the indecent representation of women (prohibition).
YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, influenced by Apoorva Makhija, Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and others also appeared in front of the Guwahati Crime branch to record their statements.
