Several leaders from the West Bengal Unit Bharatiya Janata (BJP) welcomed the immigration and foreigners of the Ministry of the Interior, 2025, which provides an exception to minorities that belong to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who were forced to seek shelter in India or 31 December 2024.
President West Bengal BJP Samik Bhattacharya thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the order and took the social media and said: “The historical decision to expand CAA (Citizenship Change) from 2014 to 2024 gave new hopes countless families torn by religious persecution.”
Other BJP leader and the State Secretary for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shantan Thakur thanked both the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior of the Union.

However, the order does not refer to CAA in 2019, which came into force last year. CAA provides citizenship for persecuted minorities from three neighboring countries that came to India 31 December 2014 or earlier. The new Order of the Ministry of the Interior of the Union effectively moves the date until 31 December 2024.
The development comes before the elections to the Assembly in West Bengal and Assam, which share the borders with Bangladesh. BJP leadership in and on Wednesday increases the question of “illegal infiltration” as polls.
The Trinamool Congress, which opposed CAA, saw “no merit in development”. Kunal Ghosh, leader of Trinamool, said through CAA, NRC (National Register of Citizens) and Sir (Special Intensive Revision), BJP really seeks to confuse people and this strategy will not be successful.
Meanwhile, the BJP of the English bazaar in the Malda district, Sreerupa Mitra Chowdhury said on Wednesday that she would not allow the elections to be made unless the Sir in the West Bengal was in the West Bengal.
“Our supporters will siege the siege in front of the election committee if Sir is not held in West Bengal,” she said.
