The divisional bench of the High Court in Kerala AK Jayaskankaran Zambiar and PM Manoj requested a state government report on the use of 120 GBP Crore, which allocated the center to rehabilitate people affected land in Wayanad in 2024.
The Directive came after the Amicus Curiae Ranjith Thampan suggested that the government be reported to report on the way of using funds when the court attracted the case of the Suo Motu on the prevention and management of natural disasters in Kerala. The Advocate General was asked to report by July 25.
The court also gave the center another two weeks to decide to give up the loans of people affected landslides. The Central Government advisor asked for two weeks to inform the court of surrender and declare that the discussion was taking place between the relevant ministries, and the decision was expected to decide.
The court was also informed that the Ministry of Transport and Motores (Morth) took steps to create a comprehensive plan of disaster management (DMP) for its implementing agencies, including India National Highway Authority to alleviate all kinds of natural disasters. This includes Subplan for highways and other traffic accidents.
Morth is now working to integrate the proposals of the National Authority for Benchmarking Disasters and the completion of DMP. Notifications in this respect are expected in three months.
