
Survivors of July 30, 2024, landslides in Mundakkai-chooralmala in the Wayanad district organized a protest on Monday, May 19 and said the government did not receive monthly rent and auxiliary money.
Many of the worst affected people said that their lives are now in crisis due to payments, despite the government’s promise. The severely affected part between the survivors demanded that the government would pay without delay a day from a relief of 300 GBP and a monthly rent.
During the protest march to the Talkiri Taluk office, there were several cases of pushing and punching as the tension increased. The protesters accused the government of detaining money that they donated to the public for help in disasters. They said the government could not use these means properly to help those who need it.
In response to the protest of Tahsildar, he promised that the waiting rental payments would be provided to those affected within 30 minutes. According to official sources, they were asked to apply for this application, seriously disabled individuals who did not receive a daily relief of 300 £ 300.
Almost 300 people were killed and much injured on landslides.
