The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) announced an 18-hour shutdown of water supply in several parts of Secunderabad on October 27 to facilitate the ongoing work of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) related to the construction of an elevated corridor from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road along NH-44.
HMWSSB will replace the existing 800 mm diameter mild steel (MS) pipeline at Paradise Junction. To enable connection works and connection of the newly laid 800 mm MS pipeline between Marredpally and control room in Ch. No. 200 (Sportoviště) and Ch. No. 650 (Lee Royal Junction, Balamrai), the shutdown will be effective from 12 noon on October 27 to 6 am on October 28.
During this period, there will be no water supply in the areas served by the following reservoirs: Nallagutta, Prakashnagar, Mekalamandi, Boudhanagar, Srinivasanagar and Pattigadda. Other affected localities include Bholakpur, Kavadiguda and Sitaphalmandi as well as Hasmathpet, Ferozguda and Gowthamnagar.
Bulk customers such as South Central Railways (Secunderabad), Military Engineering Services (MES) and Begumpet Airport will also face disruption. Besides, areas under Secunderabad Cantonment Board, including Balamrai Pump House, Balamrai Checkpost, Bowenpally and AOC Railway Colony – will experience supply suspension during the shutdown period, the replay said.
