Water supply to several areas in the city was affected on Saturday after a water main burst in Pattoor after a tree fell on it.
The tree was one of several that were felled from the banks of the Amayizhanjan canal running through the area.
The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) said a 500mm cast iron pipe sustained heavy damage in the incident.
Water supply is not expected to be restored in several affected areas until 7pm on Sunday, KWA said. The areas include Pattoor, Vanchiyoor, Mathrubhumi Road, Chirakulam Road, Moolavilakom, Thampuranmukku, Pettah, Chakka, Palkulangara, All Saints, Vettucaud, Shangumugham and Kochu Veli.
