The water samples taken from 15 seats to Ward No. 8, 9 and 10 in the woriyur in Tiruch were tested negative for harmful pathogenic organisms, corporation officials said on Monday.
After complaints about water contamination, the samples were taken from 15 seats, including water sources in Kambarabettai and Kollidam, above -ground water reservoirs in woriyur, clicking on Pannican Street, Pandamangalam Main Road, Nachiyapuram, near Chellandiyamman Kovil and Sunday for testing. The water is supplied to Woraiyur from Kollidam in Ayalamman Padadurai and Kaugers in Kambarasamptai.
According to a report received from the Regional Laboratory for Water Analysis in Public Health on Monday, drinking water was colorless and clear in physical appearance, suitable for consumption and without harmful pathogenic organisms, said M. VIIJay Chandran, urban medical officer.
According to officials, the residential area was subjected to medical supervision and officials carefully monitor the situation. A total of 40 special health teams were deployed in the affected areas to check and monitor the condition of the population.
A total of 15 medical teams have set up camps, 15 teams for field visits consisting of nurses are engaged in drug distribution from door to door, and 10 monitoring teams are established to check all the houses in this area to check their health and ensure that they treat each.
“They were asked for health workers to admit patients who have more than two episodes of diarrhea to urban primary health centers for monitoring. Secondary patients with more than four episodes of diarrhea and patients over 70 years with two episodes are admitted to government and private hospitals for treatment,” Chandran.
On Monday, as part of preventive measures, medicines, including antibiotics and zinc tablets, were provided to 9,025 individuals and more than 14,000 oral rehydration salt packets were distributed. Up to 40 patients were treated as an ambulance in a medical camp and 34 were admitted to hospitals. Of these, 27 were admitted to Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial government hospital and seven to private hospitals in the city. About 20 people who were admitted to hospitals were released on Sunday.
The water supply was suspended and chlorinated water was supplied to households in tankers. A special team of workers is engaged in cleaning existing water from the sump and identification of leaks or pipeline damage if they exist. Officers and inspectors deal with the supervision of this process, the official added.
