
The Minister of Women and Children Laxmi Hebalkar ordered irrigation officials to give 4.5 TMCft water from the Renuka Sagar dam to Malaprabha for standing crops.
At the meeting of the Counseling Committee for irrigation on Friday, she told officers to release water from 18 July for 17 days. Approximately 20 TMCft water in the dam is reserved for drinking purposes. She said she would urge farmers to use water wisely.
CC Patil and Bhimsen Chimmanakkathti, MLA, members of the committee and more were present.
Meanwhile, the release of water from Maharashtra to Krishna and tributaries decreased on Friday. The total discharge was 81 005 CUSEC, lower by more than 5,900 CUSEC compared to 86,913 cuses on Thursday.
The average tide to the Lal Bahadur Shastri on Krišná in Almatti was 95 868 Cusecs and the drain was 89 074 CUSECS. The dam had around 99 TMCFT water or around 80 percent full capacity.
The tide to the Basava Sagara dam in Narayanpur has a tide of 90,000 CUSECS and a drain of 90750 CUSECS. The dam has around 29 TMCft or 88 percent water.
