India captain Suryakumar Yadav’s match-winning match against USA was a serious affair, but the moment that followed was pure entertainment. The skipper was caught having a light-hearted exchange with pacer Arshdeep Singh after the opening thriller, with the bowler once again sharing an unfiltered view of the skipper’s humor through a social media upload.
In the video, Arshdeep, in his now famous mock interview style, asked Suryakumar about his knock that dragged India got out of trouble in their first T20 World Cup match. Suryakumar played after the match when Arshdeep jokingly highlighted his own “important” contribution during their late partnership.

Suryakumar was the only Indian batsman who really settled into the crease and cut through the chaos as wickets kept falling around him. He faced 49 balls while none of the other batsmen managed to keep even 20 balls, leaving the captain to watch team-mate after team-mate make comebacks. The collapse was so deep that Arshdeep himself walked in at number 9 and added 22 runs with Suryakumar, with four of those runs coming from the pacer’s bat.
Arshdeep cheekily hinted that his role was little less than that of the captain. Never one to miss a point, Suryakumar went a step further and joked that Arshdeep actually played a bigger role in the stands. He then jokingly promised that the left-handed batsman’s promotion was coming soon.
India started their title defense with a win, but the opening game against the USA provided some loud lessons.
How USA Scared India
Heralded as overwhelming favourites, India were soon pushed into uncomfortable territory. Their batting, usually their biggest weapon, failed miserably as wickets fell in heaps.
At one stage, India were reeling at 77/6 in 12.4 overs, staring at a sub-par total in their opening match. The pressure was real, and the sharp US intervention only intensified it.
That’s when Suryakumar created the captain’s innings. He made an unbeaten 84 off 49 balls, hammering ten fours and four sixes to lift India to 161/9 – a score that looked respectable after the collapse made even 140 look precarious.
The Indian bowlers then ensured that the captain’s efforts did not go unrewarded. Mohammed Siraj set the tone early with 2/29, Axar Patel dominated the middle overs with 2/24 and Arshdeep Singh kept cool at the death with 2/18 as USA were restricted to 132/8.
