Shivam Dube won hearts on social media when he decided to hand over his T20 World Cup 2026 winner’s medal to his father. Dube played all of India’s matches and played a key role with bat and ball as his team won the T20 World Cup for the third time.
The Indian all-rounder put the medal around his father’s neck in the video. Wearing an Indian jersey in the video, Dube’s father was excited to pose with the medal. Dube also had a special message for his father in the post, calling him his true hero.
The comments section of the post was full of love for Dube and his father, Anil Kapoor and others sent their wishes.
DUBE’S PERFORMANCE AT T20 WORLD CUP 2026
Dube played with both bat and ball in the tournament, with his knocks against Pakistan, the Netherlands, England and New Zealand in the finals being crucial. The all-rounder was India’s fourth highest run-getter in the tournament with 235 runs in nine matches at an average of 39.16 and a strike rate of 169.06.
With the ball, Dube was often asked by Suryakumar Yadav to play in tough situations. While being expensive, Dube took a total of five wickets and bowled the final of an intense semi-final against England.
“I just wanted to back myself up. I knew the first two balls of the over would be crucial, so I concentrated on hitting them right because it could have decided the match. It was already decided that I would play the last ball. I was definitely nervous – playing the final of a World Cup semi-final is always challenging,” Dube said in a video at the BCCI.
Dube’s homecoming also grabbed headlines as he chose to travel by train from Ahmedabad as flights were not available late on Sunday March 8 after the T20 World Cup final. Dube will now feature for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026.
