Rohit Sharma received a hero’s welcome when he returned to his hometown Mumbai after an incredible run in the ODI series against Australia. Rohit, who had a lackluster start to the series, bounced back brilliantly in the remaining two matches. The 38-year-old ditched his usual attacking style and used a measured and calculated approach to score a fifty and a hundred in the second and third ODIs.
Rohit scored 73 runs in Adelaide and 121 not out in Sydney to help India secure a consolation win in the ODI final. Rohit scored 202 runs in three matches at an average of 101. The Indian opener signed off from Australia on a high and returned to Mumbai to recharge before his next assignments.
The star batter arrived in Mumbai as fans gathered in large numbers outside the airport to catch a glimpse of their favorite star. Rohit had his usual swagger as he walked to the car and took a moment to greet the fans. The Indian opener signed several autographs and spoke to fans before reaching his car. ROHIT IS IN PREPARATION
Rohit commented on his preparations for the Australia series and said he wanted to use as much free time as possible to prepare for the tour.
“Since I started playing, I’ve never had four to five months to prepare for a series, so I wanted to take advantage of that. I wanted to do things my way, on my terms, and that actually worked for me because I understood what I needed to do for the rest of my career,” Rohit said.
“It was important to take advantage of that time because like I said, I’ve never had that much time and I’ve prepared well at home. There are differences between the conditions here and at home, but I’ve been here so many times so it was just about getting into that rhythm.”
“So I really appreciate the way I prepared before I came here and I took a lot of time for myself. That was very important because sometimes you have to understand that there is a lot to do in life besides what you do professionally. But I have a lot of time on my hands, so I took advantage of that.”
Rohit will be next in action during the South Africa ODI series.
