The Indian team celebrated their historic Champions Trophy win in Dubai on the night of the final. The players were visibly elated as India clinched their first 50-over title in 12 years. However, the team returned home the next day on separate flights, with all players heading to their respective homes to spend time with their families before the hectic IPL season begins.
Why No Big Celebrations After India’s CT 2025 Win?
Unlike last year’s T20 World Cup victory, which was followed by an open-bus parade and felicitation by the Indian government and BCCI, there will be no grand celebrations this time. The primary reason is the tight schedule between the Champions Trophy and the upcoming IPL season.
The players are reportedly exhausted and need time to rest and recharge before the two-month-long IPL season. As a result, it was decided that the team would skip large-scale celebrations and instead focus on spending quality time with their families before joining their IPL franchises.
Rohit Sharma Shines in the Final
Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in India’s 4-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final. The Indian captain scored a brilliant 76 off 83 balls, providing a solid foundation for the middle order to build upon. His innings included 7 fours and 3 sixes, and he started aggressively, making the most of the powerplay restrictions.
Rohit formed a strong opening partnership of 105 runs in 18.4 overs with Shubman Gill. While he didn’t have a standout tournament overall, Rohit stepped up when it mattered most, delivering a captain’s knock in the final.
What’s Next for Rohit Sharma?
Rohit Sharma will next be seen in IPL 2025, where he will represent the Mumbai Indians. Retained by MI for INR 16.30 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rohit is expected to open the batting. However, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the upcoming season.
