Head coach Mahela Jayawardene oversaw training alongside bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, while coach Carl Hopkinson also joined the group on the ground. The franchise’s strength and conditioning staff and physical therapy team were in attendance as preparations began for the new season.
The first batch of players who reported for the camp included Shardul Thakur, Mayank Markande, Allah Ghazanfar, Naman Dhir, Raja Angad Bawa, Robin Minz, Raghu Sharma, Mayank Rawat, Danish Malewar, Mohammad Izhar and Ashwani Kumar.
The rest of the squad is expected to join training camp over the next few days as the team gradually builds intensity ahead of the tournament.
Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit is set to return to T20 action in the IPL after focusing primarily on ODI cricket for India. The veteran opener has retired from Tests and T20 internationals but continues to represent Mumbai Indians in the league.
HOW WAS ROHIT SHARMA IN IPL 2025?
Rohit Sharma played an important role for Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 season as the franchise made it to the playoffs.
After stepping down as captain before the season, Rohit played under Hardik Pandya and was often used as an impact player during the tournament.
The campaign got off to a slow start for the veteran opener as he struggled to find a rhythm in the early matches. However, Rohit bounced back in a big way in the second half of the season with a series of important contributions.
Notably, he scored back-to-back half-centuries and finished the tournament with 418 runs in 15 matches, playing a key role in Mumbai Indians’ run to the playoffs.
Rohit also achieved a major milestone during the season became only the second player to score 6,000 runs in the IPL.
With IPL 2026 around the corner, fans will be hoping the veteran batsman can carry that momentum into another strong campaign for the five-time champions.
