While many on social media trolled Kavya Maran for her emotional reactions during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s crushing Eliminator defeat against Rajasthan Royals, the SRH owner made sure to congratulate the teenager who did most of the damage. Moments after the match, Kavya was seen shaking hands and having a brief chat with 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after his breathtaking knock in Mullanpur.

Rajasthan Royals teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has once again become the biggest talking point of IPL 2026 after his stunning Eliminator innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad helped RR storm into Qualifer 2.

Sooryavanshi smashed a sensational 97 off just 29 balls as Rajasthan Royals beat SRH by 47 runs to keep their title hopes alive. The youngster’s fearless knock completely dismantled the Hyderabad bowling attack and left social media in a state of shock throughout the night.

The post-match interaction between Kavya and Sooryavanshi quickly went viral online, especially after the SRH owner’s emotional reactions during the game had already become a major talking point on social media.

The SRH owner endured a tough evening in the stands as Hyderabad’s campaign slowly fell apart during a massive 244-run chase.

HOW VAIBHAV DESTROYED SRH BOWLERY

Sunrisers Hyderabad looked like a bowling attack running out of ideas against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for almost the entire evening.

Pat Cummins was constantly moving players around in the field, stopping repeatedly for chats with his senior players and constantly trying different schemes against the teenager. One over him were yorkers by the stumps, others coming to the body with sharp bouncers. Then came slower balls, cutters and wider lines outside off.

Vaibhav kept finding the boundary.

The 15-year-old had a freedom that never allowed SRH to settle. The full balls were released straight back across the screen. The short vans disappeared beyond the square. And whenever bowlers got on his pads, he whipped them into the stands effortlessly.

Even Cummins, usually one of the calmest captains around, was slow to find answers as the innings petered out from Hyderabad.

By the time Vaibhav finally fell for 97 off just 29 balls, he had already smashed 12 sixes and five boundaries at a strike rate of over 334, just three runs short of the fastest century in IPL history.

While Vaibhav lit up Mullanpur, Kavya Maran’s reactions from the stands also became widely discussed online. The cameras repeatedly caught the SRH owner looking increasingly emotional as Hyderabad’s bowling attack struggled badly and wickets fell later in the chase.

Jofra Archer’s fiery opening spell then completely knocked SRH out of the contest as Hyderabad collapsed to 57 for 4 in five overs while chasing 244.

In the second half of the chase, the match almost completely slipped away from SRH and Kavya could only watch helplessly as the Hyderabad IPL 2026 journey came to an end.

After the defeat, sections of social media also reverted to SRH’s earlier celebrations after beating Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk during the league stage, with some fans trolling Kavya Maran online after the Eliminator loss.

However, despite the heartbreak, Kavya’s gesture towards Sooryavanshi after the match won praise online, with many fans appreciating the SRH owner’s sportsmanship.
