
Ishan Kishan made a spectacular debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The left-handed batsman showcased his class with a stellar performance against Rajasthan Royals in the second match of the season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Kishan was the standout player for SRH in their opening game of IPL 2025. He delivered a commanding innings, marking his best performance in the league and ensuring his team started the season on a high note.
Batting at number three, Kishan unleashed an aggressive innings, scoring a brilliant century and helping SRH post their second-highest total in the league. He also became the first Indian player to score a century for the Orange Army in IPL history.
Ishan Kishan Scores Unbeaten 106 Runs Off 47 Balls
The first innings was dominated by Kishan, who was in sublime form and played some breathtaking shots. He reached his half-century in just 25 balls and took only 20 more deliveries to complete his maiden IPL century.
Kishan remained unbeaten with 106 runs off 47 balls, striking at an impressive rate of over 225. His innings included 11 fours and 6 sixes, earning him a standing ovation from the crowd and SRH owner Kavya Maran.
However, Kishan’s heroics were marred by an unfortunate injury during the second innings. While attempting to stop a boundary in the 18th over, he suffered a knee injury. Adam Zampa bowled a short delivery to Shubham Dubey, who pulled it hard behind square. Kishan sprinted to his left and dived valiantly but failed to stop the ball and injured himself in the process.
Kishan was visibly in pain and struggled to walk, limping off the field. He received immediate treatment from the physio near the boundary line and did not participate further in the match.

“Wanted to Get This Last Season, But Happy to Get That First Hundred” – Ishan Kishan
Reflecting on his innings, Kishan expressed his joy at scoring his first IPL century. He credited the team management and captain for their support and confidence in him. Speaking after the first innings, he said:
“Feels good, it was coming for a while. Wanted to get this last season but happy to get that first hundred. The team has put their faith in me, and I want to do my best for them. The captain has given us all a lot of freedom and confidence, hats off to the management. When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout.”
