Indian batsman Ishan Kishan recently found himself laughing again as he revisited an old viral clip featuring Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, proving that some moments in the dressing room never get old.
The clip resurfaced during Kishan’s appearance on YouTube show 2 Sloggers, where he was shown the now famous exchange from India’s 2023 ODI series against Sri Lanka. What was supposed to be a routine post-game chat then turned into an unfiltered moment of humor that fans have kept alive ever since.
Watch the video here:
In the original video, Kishan cheekily took a dig at Rohit for his absence from the playing eleven despite scoring a historic double hundred against Bangladesh in December 2022. When Rohit asked him why he would sit out three matches even after scoring 200, Kishan replied with a straight face, “Bhaiya yeh, and let aap and aapbataoge split into Rohit and captain Rohit.
Fast forward to 2026 and Kishan couldn’t resist adding a new layer of wit. When he watched the clip again, he laughed and said it wasn’t just three games he missed, but almost two whole years. The self-deprecating humor struck a chord with fans, especially given how dramatically Kishan’s fortunes have changed since then.
Ishan Kishan: A man in form
That happy moment came at a time when Kishan is firmly back in the limelight for his cricket. The left-hander capped New Zealand’s T20I series with a stunning maiden T20I century, he smashed 103 off just 43 balls in the 5th T20I at Thiruvananthapuram. It was the perfect climax to a comeback series that began on a much more subdued note.
Returning to the Indian side after more than two years, Kishan managed just 8 off 5 balls in the opening T20I. But he quickly turned things around in the second match with a blistering 76 off 32 deliveries, setting up a quick chase of 209 and reminding everyone of his match-winning ability.
By the end of the series, Kishan had amassed 215 runs from four innings at an average of 53.75 and a strike rate of 231.18. The numbers, along with his renewed confidence, have strengthened his case ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
With India considering their options at the top of the order, Kishan’s form has come at the right time. An opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma is now a real possibility, especially with Sanju Samson struggling for runs.
