Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan created a buzz on social media on Sunday after he posted a video of himself dancing to the popular song ‘Afghan Jalebi’ after India’s comprehensive victory over Pakistan in the Men’s T20 World Cup in Colombo. The clip captioned “Padosiyo, Sunday kaisa raha?” was widely interpreted as a playful dig at the arch-rivals and quickly went viral among Indian cricket fans.

India recorded a commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan in the Men’s T20 World Cup match in Colombo to book their place in the Super Eight stage. Adding to the post-match buzz, Pathan’s celebration saw fans flood the comments section to praise both the former cricketer’s performance and enthusiasm.

This is not the first time Pathan has celebrated India’s victory with the same song. He danced to the ‘Afghan Jalebi’ after India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup last year and also after Afghanistan’s memorable win over England in the Champions Trophy, making it a recurring celebration gesture.

INDIA CRUSH PAKISTAN IN COLOMBO

India’s emphatic victory was built on a superb all-round display led by Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah.

Batting first at the R. Premadasa Stadium, India posted 175 for 7 on a surface where the ball held and held. Kishan’s 77 off 40 balls proved decisive. The left-hander combined power with finesse and faced Pakistan’s blistering attack with authority. He reached his fifty in just 27 deliveries and shared an 87-run partnership for the second wicket with Tilak Varma, steadying the innings after an early setback.

Although Pakistan pulled things back briefly in the middle order, useful contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh saw India cross the 170 mark, which proved more than enough on a challenging pitch.

In response, Pakistan soon faltered. Bumrah batted with precision and control, returning figures of 2 for 17, while Hardik Pandya provided the crucial breakthrough. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114, unable to recover from the early knocks.

With this victory, India improved their mutual record against Pakistan in T20 World Cup matches 8-1, reinforcing their dominance in global tournaments.
