The Indian Premier League (IPL) introduced a unique addition to its broadcast team this season – a four -time robot. The announcement was made through a special video published on the official holdings on the social media of the league. In the video former New Zealand cricket and popular commentator Danny Morrison introduced a robotic dog and revealed that it would be part of the cover for the ongoing IPL 2025 season.
The robotic dog, equipped with supervision and broadcast functions of the camera, was seen to respond to Morrison’s voice orders. He even waved it on the camera and showed his ability to engage in the moderator and audience. Morrison introduced the robot with his usual taste and humor, which further increased the excitement around this high-tech census.

As part of the IPL promotional campaign, he called on fans to propose the name for the robot. “We want you to name our latest team member,” Morrison said in the video, encouraging viewers to drop their proposals in the comment section. The fans quickly joined and flooded with creative and unpredictable names.
The video also represented several IPL stars, including Captain Mumbai Indians, Captain Hardik Pandya, his teammates Reece Topley and Delhi Capitals Skipper Axar Patel. All three crickets seemed thoroughly interested in interacting with a robotic dog, checking his movements and responding with amusement and curiosity.
At an entertaining moment, Morrison even joined a robot race, which was not surprisingly ending with a machine that took the easy victory and left the former cricket of New Zealand from his breath.
