Identity verification of guests, maintenance of visitor records and installation of CCTV cameras were among the key points discussed at a meeting convened by the Hyderabad police with owners of hotels and lodges in the north zone on Wednesday.
The meeting, convened by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) S. Rashmi Perumal, was to ensure that all facilities were functioning in accordance with the provisions of the Telangana State Public Safety Act, Trade Regulations and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
More than 100 hotel and lodge owners and managers along with ACP from Gopalapuram and Station House officers from across the North Zone participated.
During the interaction, the management was reminded to maintain a proper register of visitors with accurate details and to submit daily guest details to the local police stations. They have been instructed to verify and retain valid identification documents of all guests at the time of check-in to ensure their authenticity and availability for police inspection.
The DCP also emphasized on the mandatory installation of CCTV cameras with a minimum prescribed backup period under the Public Safety Act.
Owners were further advised to seek permission from the local police before holding any events, gatherings or training programs on their premises.
Police have warned hotel and lodge operators to ensure that their facilities are not misused for illegal activities such as prostitution, drug selling or other illegal activities and warned that any negligence in this regard will require strict action.
In addition, the management was advised to increase security at the site by deploying adequate guards and installing security scanners such as door frames and handheld metal detectors to strengthen security measures.
