Osaka turns heads with Kill Bill-inspired Wimbledon look
While Djokovic grabbed headlines for his interaction with fans, Naomi Osaka created another viral moment with a striking fashion statement before even hitting the ball.Watch her entry here:Despite Wimbledon’s famous all-white dress code, Osaka found a creative way to make a statement as she arrived on Court No. 3 in a flowing white kimono with elaborate embroidery and dramatic sleeves. The Japanese star’s entrance immediately caught the attention of fans, many of whom raised their phones to capture the moment, while one viewer shouted: “Come on Queen!”After easing past Elsa Jacquemot 6-1, 7-5, Osaka revealed the inspiration behind her outfit.“My Japanese background means a lot. At Wimbledon they say all white and I thought it would be really cool to perform in a kimono,” she said.Osaka added that the design was inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, particularly Lucy Liu O-Ren Ishii’s iconic character in a white kimono.“Sometimes I like to be like a character from a video game. I don’t want to be myself when I play on the court. I kind of try to embody it,” she explained.
