However, one moment during his innings summed up LSG’s disastrous campaign, a bizarre missed opportunity that left fans and commentators stunned.The incident took place on the very first ball of the 14th over. Dhruv Jurel steered the ball towards short third man, prompting Sooryavanshi for a quick single at mid-off. Jurel ended up sending him back late, leaving the 15-year-old stranded outside his crease. Poliar Digvesh Rathi was quick to react and fired a sharp throw to bowler Mohsin Khan who was standing right at the stumps at the non-shelter end. At that point Sooryavanshi almost gave up and stopped running so it was an easy opportunity.But in what many described as one of the biggest ‘brain fades’ in IPL history, Mohsin inexplicably chose to throw the ball on the stumps from close range instead of calmly removing the bails with ball in hand. The throw missed the stumps completely, allowing the loose Sooryavanshi to get in comfortably. The RR youngster was even seen laughing at the bizarre escape.To Mohsin’s credit he recovered quickly from the blunder and eventually Sooryavanshi later in the same over. On the final ball of the 14th, the LSG pacer fooled him with a clever slower delivery. Sooryavanshi attempted another big hit and mistimed the shot towards long-on where Abdul Samad completed a simple catch to end a spectacular innings.However, the damage has already been done. The defeat once again highlighted LSG’s miserable phase this season. After falling out of play-off contention, they failed to defend another 200-plus total, while the missed run-out only added to the feeling of having failed in IPL 2026.
