Watch: Ben Stokes falls to another Indian bowler as Yuzi Chahal bowls a peach
Former England Test captain Ben Stokes can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to India’s bowlers in the County Championship. In the match between Northamptonshire and Durham, Stokes was kept clean again, this time by Yuzvendra Chahal.
The incident occurred on the third ball of the 47th over when Chahal bowled a delivery outside the off-stump. Instead of attacking the ball, Stokes decided to defend it, leaving a large gap between bat and pad. The ball managed to spin sharply and broke through the former England captain’s defense to hit top off stump.
Stokes was dismissed for 14 with Durham scoring 187 for six. From there they were eventually eliminated for 205 laps. Mayank Agarwal was Durham’s second-highest scorer in the innings, hitting 36 off 57 balls.
Chahal finished with four for 36 in 15.2 overs. This is not the first time that Stokes has outwitted a similar delivery from an Indian spinner.
During the match between Gloucestershire and Durham, Stokes looked comfortable during his stay at the crease and began to build a useful innings for Durham. He made 45 off 43 balls, hitting seven fours and a six, before Sai Kishore ended his innings abruptly.
Stokes looked up at the heavens in disbelief and threw his bat in the air before returning to the pavilion.
