
Andre Russell received a sincere honorary guard when he entered the field for what would be his final performance in the colors of West India. On Tuesday, July 22 (Wednesday, July 23 in India) Russell played his last international match in the second T20 series of five matches in the Sabina iconic park in Kingston, Jamaica – his home ground.
When he walked on the famous steps, both Australian and West Indian players stood up to greet an incredible career of versatile. There was applause around the stadium when the fans raised their feet and showed their love and admiration for a player who had excited them for more than ten years.

Russell, who launched his international journey in 2010, stopped to take it all, a moment of gratitude, pride and emotion, acknowledged the crowd and homage with a modest wave and smile. It was a suitable farewell for one of the most electrifying crickets of the Caribbean.

Russell did not disappoint his fans when he hit two or four sixes on his way to hammering 36 out of 15 balls before Nathan Ellis introduced his goal.
Previously, Russell announced that he would leave the international cricket after playing the first two T20i before his domestic crowd in Jamaica.
“Words can’t explain what it means. Representing Western India was one of the most amazing successes in my life. When I was a child, I didn’t expect to get to this level, but the more you start playing and starting to love sport, you realize what you can achieve.
“I love playing for West India and I like to play at home in front of my family and friends, where I get my talent and make better performances. I want to complete my international career at a high level while I am a model for the next generation of crickets coming from the Caribbean,” Russell added.
Russell was part of the Windies Party, which in 2012 and 2016 raised the world cups T20 and has 86 caps in its name. He also played 56 ODI and one test for West India.
