The entire 337 tonnes of wasting the now extinct factory for the Union carbide in Bhopal was burned by Madhya Pradesh, the officials said. The waste was reduced to the ashes during the liquidation race in the city of Pithampura in the state, said June 30 – six months after a toxic shipment was brought to the unit.

The process of relocating toxic waste from the Union carbide factory began on 1 January about 40 years after the tragedy.

Special landfill cells were designed according to the scientific process for the burial of residues (waste residues) in the country and is expected that this work will be completed by November, he said.
“If everything goes well, these remains will also be destroyed by December. Before that, the rest will be scientifically treated so that their burial does not cause any environmental damage,” the official said.

The waste from the Union carbide factory included the soil of the closed unit, the remnants of the reactor, the residues of the Sein (pesticide), the diesel residues and the “half -worked” residues. Scientific evidence shows that the effect of Sevin’s and Nafthala chemicals in this waste has already become “almost negligible”.
There was no presence of gas methyl isocyanate in the waste and also contained no radioactive particles, according to the State Council for Control Control.
