A private waste bin inside SIPCOT Phase III complex in Ranipet town was gutted on Friday after a fire broke out in the facility resulting in thick smoke in the area.
Police said it was around 3 p.m. when several workers at the complex noticed thick smoke coming from the chasm. Together with other workers, they immediately tried to extinguish the fire, but it spread to the entire abyss.
