A complaint against the former Pakistani captain Wasi Akram for alleged approval and association with the online platform of “gambling and bets” concerning sport, said the official on Tuesday.
The complainant, Muhammad Fiaz, submitted an application at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore and was looking for legal steps against Akram for alleged promotion of gambling and betting applications.
He said that the former rapid pitch was associated with foreign application – Baji – as its brand ambassador.
“A poster circulating on social media and Wasim Akram video clips supported an online platform that caused interest among general users in the application,” the complainant said.
He asked Nccia to take strict legal steps against the Akram under the 2016 electronic crimes Act.
On Tuesday, the NCCIA official told PTI that he had received a complaint against Akram for being a foreign betting application Ambassador and “we will act against him if the accusation is considered true”.
Akram has not yet issued any statement on this matter.
In connection with the promotion of the same online application, the famous Tiktoker and Youtuber Saad-Ur-Rehman, known as Ducky Bhai, was arrested on Saturday.
