Semi Final India Vs. South Africa proved to be a thrilling contest with the women in blue eventually winning the contest by 52 runs. While the women’s team’s first-ever World Cup victory remained the critical focus on Sunday, netizens on social media platforms also pointed out a strange thing where Akash Ambani was spotted with a single-camera iPhone, which some users mistakenly identified as the iPhone 16e.
Ambani, who was seen sitting next to ICC chairman Jay Shah, former India captain Rohit Sharma and BCCI president Mithun Manhas, used an iPhone to capture the historic moment during the penultimate World Cup encounter.
Considering that Ambani belongs to the richest family in the country, netizens found it strange that the billionaire is using an iPhone with a single camera. However, as it turns out, Ambani was using the iPhone Air, the lightest iPhone made by the Cupertino tech giant, and not the iPhone 16e.
While there have been various reports claiming that sales of Apple’s iPhone Air and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge have been less than ideal, Ambani seems to prefer the agility of the iPhone Air over the more feature-packed iPhone 17 Pro models, which also come with a brand new look.
Netizens react to Akash Ambani’s iPhone:
“I don’t know who the video will show because the whole country is watching the match 😆” commented one user on X
”Akash Ambani uses iPhone 17 air. Meanwhile his car cleaner uses iPhone 17pro max👽” commented another user
“Show up for the middle class rich people stay simple and think growth,” commented an Instagram user.
India became world champions:
Meanwhile, the Indian team put up a scintillating show in Navi Mumbai as they put up a total of 292 runs in their 50 overs, buoyed by Shafali Varma’s 87 and late success by Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh.
While the Indian bowlers took wickets at regular intervals, at one point it looked like South African captain Laura Wolvaardt would play spoilsport as she did in the semi-final encounter against England. But Wolvaardt was eventually dismissed in the 42nd over by Deepti Sharma, tilting the match in India’s favor and the women in blue finished above lifting the World Cup trophy for the first time.
