In a powerful story of resilience and determination, para taekwondo player Ellavula Goutham Yadav (27) of Warangal has climbed to world No. 2 in the Senior Male P51 category, according to the latest rankings released by World Para Taekwondo.
This achievement represents a milestone in Goutham’s sporting journey, especially considering the challenges he has overcome. In 2020, his promising career was interrupted by a traffic accident. Refusing to accept defeat and strongly supported by his family, he embarked on a determined recovery and return to international competition.
His persistence has since translated into sustained success on the global stage. Goutham Yadav has emerged as one of India’s most successful para taekwondo athletes and has brought pride to Telangana and the nation with his performances.
His notable international achievements include a gold medal at the World Para Taekwondo Championship 2024 in Bahrain, followed by another gold at the 5th KTA International Para Poomsae Championship 2024 in London. He added silver to his medal tally at the 10th Asian Para Taekwondo Championships 2025 in Malaysia. At the national level, he is a three-time senior national champion, confirming his dominance in the sport.
Commenting on his achievement, Goutham said, “My long-term goal remains to secure an Olympic medal for India.”
