What is the WAQF change law
The aim of the draft WAQF law is to change the 1995 WAQF law, it strives to improve WAQF real estate management in India.
Its aim is to overcome the shortcomings of the previous law and increase the effectiveness of WAQF boards by introducing changes, such as renaming the law, updating WAQF definitions, improving the process of registration and increasing the task of technology when managing WAQF records.
The draft WAQF Act was previously introduced in Lok Sabha in August 2024, after which under the leadership of Jagdambika Pal was created a joint parliamentary committee for further consideration.
