
Banks, post offices and stock market will be closed on Monday, September 1, in compliance with working days, but many restaurants, food chains and retail stores will remain open.
The importance of work
The day of work honors the “social and economic success of American workers”, according to the US Ministry of Labor. The holiday follows back to 5 September 1882, when New York City hosted the first laboratory show, organized the Central Trade Union. 1894, 23 states acknowledged the holiday and President Grover Cleveland signed a law that on the first Monday of September as a federal holiday.
Stock market, banks, mail and delivery services
Stock market: Benchmark indices on the US stock market will remain closed 1 September due to the working day of 2025 in the United States. In the case of a market holiday, the trading session is usually a half -day session before the planned holiday. In this case, however, due to the closure of the market on Saturday and Sunday, there is no half -day trading before the planned holiday.
Banks: Capital One, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, PNC, Truist, Citibank and JPMorgan Chase branch will be closed. Capital One cafes will remain open on the day of work.
Post office: US postal service equipment will be closed on the day of work without delivery of the mail.
UPS & FedEx: UPS pickup services will be suspended. UPS stores can close depending on the location. Most FedEx services will also be unavailable, with the FedEx office in the modified hours.

Walmart, Target and Costco
Walmart: Open from 6:00 to 23:00 (hours may vary).
Objective: Shops will be open with local variations in lessons.
COSTCO: Warehouses will be closed on holiday at Labor Day.
Hardware stores
HOME DEPOT: Open, clocks differ according to the place.
LOWE’S: Open regular hours.
Hardware ACE: The clock differs because the stores are independently operated.
Pharmacies
CVS: Open, with some places reduce hours.
Walgreens: retail stores open in normal hours, but pharmacies are closed with the exception of 24 hours and selected places.
Restaurant open on the day of work
Many favorite chains will serve customers in the Labor Day, including McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin ‘, Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle, Taco Bell, Olive Garden (11: 00-22: 00), Buffalo Wild Wings, iHop, Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse and Red Lobster.

Grocery stores
Most of the main food chains will be open, including:
Walmart, Target, Kroger Stores, Trader Joe’s, Meijer (6:00 – Midnight), Publix, Aldi, Whole Foods, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Giant Eagle, Wegmans, Lidl and Sprouts Farmers.
Sam’s Club: Open 8:00 – 18:00 for plus members; 10:00 – 18:00 for club members.
Retail store
Shoppers may expect most of the major retailers to remain open, for example:
Target, Macy’s, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Nordstrom, Victoria’s Secret, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Homegoods and Burlington.
Specialized shops such as Ikea, Cabela’s, Tractor Supply Co., Petsmart and Barnes & Noble will also be open.
