In a significant reform, the Visvesvaraya (VTU) technology university plans to accept artificial intelligence (AI) to set questionnaires and evaluate answers to technical courses.
This is to bring uniformity in the questionnaire and the system of evaluation of engineering courses throughout the state, said S. Vidyashankar, Vice -Rector of VTU.
“Three to four companies and some researchers have enrolled in the implementation of AI technology in the paper settings and evaluation system of engineering courses and also demonstration.
Why does it initiate it
AI tech adaptation is the next step for the VTU that has already accepted the digital evaluation system. Answers to scanning and evaluation teachers are evaluated through computers, which helped provide quick results.
However, the evaluation is still not crazy. For example, there may be huge differences between stamps that two evaluators for the same answer may exist. According to the VTU rules, the evaluator can only be penalized if the difference in the brands between two evaluators is over 15.
In addition, although the university has made several instructions on the deployment of questions, many differences have been determined in the pattern of papers.
VTU hopes that employing AI tools would help bring uniformity in setting the questionnaire paper and the evaluation system. “AI is the next generation instrument in all sectors,” said Mr. Vidyashankar, adding that this process is in the experimental phase.
Some roadblocks
Some private universities have already accepted AI technology to determine quarrying paper and evaluation of answers to the MBA course, but it was not entirely successful. Questionnaires can be easily set via AI technology, but not so easy in the evaluation process, said the vice -chairman.
“If we give the syllabus and framework, the questionnaire can be set AI.
