VTU asks the directors of technical colleges to devote time slots to student interaction and handling complaints

The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has issued a circular instructing principals of affiliated technical colleges to dedicate time slots for student interaction and redressal of grievances.

“Principals are required to set aside and clearly display specific time slots during which students may meet with the principal to discuss their academic, administrative or other genuine grievances. The designated time for student interaction should be prominently displayed outside the principal’s chamber so that students are aware of the appropriate time,” it said.

Colleges have been asked to keep a complaint log. The Director must record the date, brief nature of the complaint/query and the action taken or solution provided, wherever possible, in the diary.

Meanwhile, VTU has informed the colleges that the availability and implementation of such a system may also be verified by the Local Inspection Committee (LIC) during the affiliation/inspection process.
