Vaikund Swamy Dharma Pracharan Sabha (VSDP) protested on Monday in front of the State Bank of Indian and Medium and Medium -Sized Enterprises near the General Hospital, along with the bodies of the couple who committed suicide in the Carama before the day.
Protesting leadership by the leader VSDP Vishnupuram Chandrasekharan placed the bodies of the deceased K. Satheesh and his wife V. Binda in front of the bank and accused the officials of pushing the couple on the brink of demanding a loan that the couple used a few years ago.
They claimed that Satheesh, a former supplier, used a business loan of approximately 64 ₹ Lakh. However, the pandemic and the economic decline stopped his work, which seriously influenced his ability to repay the loan. Despite his deteriorating financial situation and health problems, the protesters say that the bank forced him to restore a loan, currently in a total of 1.5 crore.
After interviews with the Bank officials, VDSP activists claimed that they had received the assurance that the debt would be written off.
In the SBI press note, he said that the couple used credit facilities from the bank in 2013, which later changed. “The last time the bank contacted them regarding the loan was March 3, 2025, and since then there was no communication. Bank booths have committed themselves to cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigation and expanding all possible support to the family”.
