Tamil Nadu voters will not be swayed by false promises from the DMK this time, Maanila Tamil Congress (Moopanar) president GK Vasan said in Madurai on Saturday (February 7, 2026).

He told the media that in 2021, DMK came to power by deceiving the people of the state, but voters understood the party’s game plan and would be vigilant this time. “Many are fed up. They are disappointed with the DMK’s poor performance. There has been total degradation in all departments, especially the police department,” he said.

Tamil Nadu’s lost luster will be restored by the new AIADMK-led government, he said, adding that the parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aim to oust the corrupt DMK from power. “There is absolutely no confusion between the partners,” he said.

The NDA in Tamil Nadu is led by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, he pointed out, and hoped that seat-sharing talks between various leaders would be smooth and hassle-free. He further stated that his party would be asking for more seats than it had previously sought.

Mr Vasan said the introduction of new plans by Chief Minister MK Stalin at the end of his tenure was nothing but a reflection of “his fear of losing power”. “Corruption has reached an all-time high and the flow of narcotics is not being checked at all. The police department is so weak that the DMK government is not even able to send a DGP (Chief of Police),” charged Mr. Vasan.

The TMC leader chaired the party’s advisory meeting on Saturday, which was attended by chairmen from southern districts. The party is planning to hold similar meetings in Coimbatore on February 14, Chennai on February 17 and Tiruchi on February 19.
