The united democratic front (UDF) and the left democratic front (LDF) are locked in a hot struggle to take place in the Byelection on June 19 so that the assembly of Nilambur can take place.
The competition between Aryadan Shouth and M. Swaraj LDF was given special attention due to the presence of three other key players: All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) State Conventner PV Anvar, which competes as and independent; BJP’s Mohan George; and the Social Democratic Party of the Indian (SDPI) Sadik Zemuthodi. These candidates can potentially sip key votes, which affects the outcome in closely attacked elections.
When there was a deadline for the selection of nominations at 3 pm on Thursday, 10 candidates remained in the break -up and the speculation about Mr. Anvar moved. Speculation surrounded its potential withdrawal from the race, given its tendency to take unpredictable decisions.
Mr. Anvar’s nomination as a candidate TMC was previously rejected by the Election Commission due to technical issues related to the registration of the party in Kerala. However, his nomination of an independent candidate was adopted. The election commission assigned Mr. Anvar scissors as his voting symbol. His attempts to make the symbol of Authorickshaw fail because he was already assigned to the Congress of Keral led by PJ Joseph.
Despite the claims of Mr. Anvar, BJP and SDPI candidates on the potential implementation of the traditional voting banks in Nilambur, Mr. Shoukath and Mr. Swaraj, the competition is fundamentally a political battle between UDF and LDF. “It’s a battle between the two alliances,” they said.
Although they tried to downplay Mr. Anvar and candidates BJP and SDPI, the UDF and LDF secretly fear concerns about the possible impact that they could have in the elections, due to the sharp nature of the ongoing campaign.
UDF and LDF behave carefully, and their candidates and leaders take pain to avoid antagonization of any group or community. For candidates such as Mr. Anvar, Mr. George and Mr. Zemuthodi in Fray, UDF and LDF are aware that any incorrect step could have unintended consequences and potentially play in the hands of their opponents.
