Virat Kohli is set to return for the third match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi. The legendary batsman is expected to be a part of their game against Railways on January 6 at the Board of Control for Cricket at India’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley told India Today regarding Kohli’s availability for the third game.
“He is playing as of now. Virat has given his availability for three games,” Rohan Jaitley told India Today.
Kohli has been in good form in the two home matches he has played, scoring 131 and 77. He also surpassed 16,000 runs in List A cricket surpassing Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest individual to perform.
He also played brilliantly in the three-match ODI series against South Africa before the home matches, scoring two consecutive centuries and following up with a fifty to ensure India won the series 2-1.
Reports also suggested that with the Indian team to assemble in Vadodara on January 8, there is a chance that Kohli will come a day earlier and start training.
The three-match ODI series against New Zealand will begin on January 11, with the first match being played in Vadodara itself.
NO HARDIK PANDYA, JASPRIT BUMRAH FOR ODI SERIES
According to reports, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are not expected to participate in the three-match series as the pair will be key to India’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign later that year. With India being the defending champions and playing the tournament on home soil, the pair will be crucial if they are to create history and be the first team to defend the T20 title.
