New Delhi: Indian fans of cricket were shocked on Tuesday morning, when Sydney Sixers, triple Big Bash League champion (BBL), announced that Virt Kohli officially signed for the next two seasons.
The news spread like a fire, inducing excitement and debate across social media. But it wasn’t long before the Australian franchise cleaned the air – it was nothing but the April crazy.
“April Fools,” Sydney Sixers later published on X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed that Kohli had not really joined BBL.
Given that Kohli’s continuing commitment to the Royal Challengers Bengalur (RCB) in IPL, the chance of playing in the Australian T20 league has never exceeded anyone.
Currently, Kohli is focused on IPL 2025, where records on records continue to dominate.
In the RCB match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ma Chidambarama stadium, Kohli became the highest running shooter against CSK in the history of IPL and overcame Shikhar Dhawan.
Although he managed only 31 escaping out of 30 balls, the milestone reaffirmed his status of one of the biggest doughs in IPL.
In the OPPL 2025 opening between Kolkata Knight (KKR) and RCB, Kohl was honored by the prestigious “IPL 18” memento by President Bcci Roger Binny.
Recognition emphasized his incredible journey in the tournament, where he remains a leading running shooter with 8,094 runs in 254 matches, including eight centuries and 56 half -life.

Despite the legendary 2016 season, when he scored 973 runs, the title of IPL still escapes.
The opening ceremony also saw Kohli shared a fun moment with the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, dance at “Yhome Jo Pathaan” before Rink Singh joined another live performance.
After the Indian triumph at the T20 World Cup, Kohli said goodbye to the international cricket T20, which decided to focus on ODI, tests and franchise cricket.
