Virat Kohli meets 2008 U19 World Cup teammate daughter ahead of IPL 2026 final
When it comes to his former teammates, Virat Kohli always remains the same person. Taruwar Kohli, a former teammate of the RCB Under-19 star, met him ahead of the IPL 2026 final alongside his daughter. Taruwar and Kohli were part of the team that won the U19 World Cup in 2008, with the former playing a big role in India’s victory in the tournament. Taruwar scored 218 runs in six matches at an average of 43.60, scoring three fifties. But the two men went on to have contrasting careers.
Kohli became the poster boy of Indian cricket and established himself as one of the modern greats. Taruwar was part of Rajasthan Royals during the inaugural IPL campaign in 2008 before later turning into Punjab Kings in a short spell. His last appearance in the tournament came in the 2009 season.
He did not earn an India cap and had strong stints on the domestic circuit with Punjab and then Mizoram before retiring in 2024.
Taruwar shared a video on his official account showing Kohli getting off the team bus to meet him and his daughter. Kohli interacted with his former teammate and his daughter for a wholesome moment.
“10 years. Different paths. Same brotherhood. Fame changes people. Virat didn’t change. He specially got off the bus to meet us. Size never changed you. Be blessed always. THE GOAT,” said Taruwar.
KOHLI TO IPL 2026 FINALS
Kohli will now be gearing up for his second consecutive IPL final. The RCB star and his side beat Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 to book their wicket for the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Kohli has scored 600 runs from 15 matches so far this season, including 1 hundred and four fifties. Kohli has an average of 50 and a strike-rate of 164.38.
