
Former England and the Royal Call of Bengalur All-Rounder Moeen Ali revealed that franchise based in Bengalur approached the replacement of Virata Kohli as a captain in 2019. When he spoke to the Indian sister Canal Sportstak, Moeen said that the Parthiv was all named Franchise Captain Gary Kirsten’s Tenure.
Between 2019 and 2020, Moeen Ali was part of RCB before moving to Chennai Super Kings, where he enjoyed the most decorated charm of his career.
Virat Kohli remains one of the longest RCB captains. While he led the team in several matches since 2011, he officially took over from Daniel Vettori as a full -time captain in 2013. Kohli continued his role until 2021, When he resigned, he fry the management of the workload.
“Yes, I think he was. I’m pretty sure he was,” Moeen said as he asked if the Parthiv was considered the captain of the RCB.
“In the last year, when Gary Kirsten-after the first year was, I believe that Parthiv was in the queue to become a captain. He had a brilliant cricket brain,” Moeen added.
“That was talking at the time. I don’t know what happened or why it didn’t happen, but I’m sure he was seriously considered a role.”
After led RCB to the finals in 2016, Kohli tried to replicate this success in the coming seasons. The team failed to reach the playoffs for three consecutive years, ended the last in 2017 and 2019 and managed only sixth in 2018. While Kohli’s bats remained for the party, his captain came under three years in three years, after the cardiac final.
RCB, however, organized a revival in 2020 and reached the play -off when Kohli’s partnership with coach Simon Katich began to bear fruit.
After Kohli’s leaving the role after the 2021 season, RCB handed over Captain FAF du Plessis. The team maintained the level of consistency in the following seasons. Their long waiting for the first IPL title finally ended in the beginning of this year under the leadership of Rajat Patidar. Kohli played a key role in the campaign with victory for the title 2025-to the Rajat on the pitch while letting his bat spoke and accumulating 657 runs in 15 matches.
Meanwhile, Parthiv Patel did not set himself in the IPL after the 2019 season. Former India Wicketkeeper left with 2,848 runs out of 139 matches when he won titles with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Parthiv, renowned for his clever cricket mind, joined Gujarat Titans as a mentor in 2025 and had an immediate impact on the role.
