Virat Kohli has a better chance of scoring a century than Rohit Sharma: Former Indian cricketer gives big verdict

Virat Kohli, left, and Rohit Sharma Former India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara believes Virat Kohli has a better chance than Rohit Sharma to score a century in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.Pujara feels Kohli’s position at number three gives him more time to settle and build his innings. Rohit, meanwhile, usually has the responsibility of giving India an aggressive start in the powerplay, although Pujara believes his role could change in New Zealand conditions.“The way Rohit bats, he has a role to provide good starts in the overs. In New Zealand, that role might change so he could go on to score a century. But for Virat, the chances are a bit higher because he bats at number three. His game is more about playing the anchor role. So for a batsman coming in at number three, scoring a century in the ODI format is a bit easier,” said the former batsman.“The opener’s role is also defined but it changes a bit in New Zealand conditions. So I feel Virat has more chances to score a hundred in New Zealand than Rohit,” Pujara told JioStar as quoted by news agency IANS.Pujara also expects the five-match series to be even. He believes New Zealand could have a slight advantage as India field different combinations in the first three matches and the last two. While Pujara is backing India to do well in the first three matches, he expects the team to face a tougher challenge in the remaining matches.“Two all. They play one team in the first three games and then another Indian team will play in the last two games. So I think New Zealand has a slight advantage because you don’t play the same team in all five games. I’m still rooting for the Indian team in the first three games because I feel they will do well.”“The last two games might be a bit of a challenge but it’s going to be a tough series. And it’s raining in New Zealand so probably one game will be a bummer,” he added.
