Virat Kohli could come out of retirement from the test cricket if India suffered severe defeat in the upcoming series of five matches in England, said former Australian captain Michael Clarke. Kohli, who left the longest format last month after playing 123 tests and scored 9 230 runs.
Clarke believed that the dough could be convinced to return if the Indian team is fighting and is asked to return selectors and leadership. The former Indian team captain last played in Australia, where he suffered a terrible time down.
“If India goes to England and is whipped-saying that they will lose a series of 5-0-I think that fans will want Vihli to come out of retirement,” Clarke said on a cricket podcast Beyond23. “And frankly, if he asked him the captain, selectors and is supported by fans, I think he will return. He still loves the test cricket.”
A 35 -year -old man fulfilled the long -term dream of winning the IPL with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for just a few weeks before announcing his retirement from the tests. Yet Kohli explained that the test cricket is still much higher in personal value.
Clarke noted that India would be missing both Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who also announced their retirement from the format before the English tour, but supported the younger generation led by the new Captain Shaubman Gill.
“Rohit Sharma leaves the test cricket. Tactically he was a great captain. Virt Kohli is leaving – averaging. He will miss the test cricket,” Clarke said.
Clarke also appreciated the young dough of Sai Sudharsan and called him a future star in all formats. “He is technically healthy, mentally prepared and natural number three for me for a test cricket.”
Clarke, who addressed the recent StamPede in Bengalur during the RCB celebration, offered his condolences.
“It’s devastating. Hopefully we’ll never see something like that again. Fans and players should be able to celebrate together, but it must be done safely. My thoughts are with all families. It was a tragic end of what was an incredible season.”
The Indian series of five tests in England begins on June 20 in Headingley, Leeds.
