“Virat and I have talked about it many times. If one of us played a little longer and won the game, it would be very different. And the IPL victory is so strange. The 2016 season was very special for the RCB. We were at the bottom of the table and we had to win seven games in a row to qualify.
He chased 209, RCB dropped only eight short runs and ended up 200 despite Kohli 54 out of 35 balls and Rahul’s 11 out of 9.

Rahul was thinking about how close the scripting of the fairy tale were. “If one of us stayed longer, it could be a very different story. Victory at home in Chinnaswamy would be unforgettable,” he said.
In addition to regret, Rahul talked about how his time in RCB changed him as a cricket. After joining as a young man, Rahul said he initially lacked faith in his skill in the white ball. Sharing a dressing room with legends like Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle had a huge impact on him.
“Watching how Virat, AB and Chris trained and approached the game was the best experience of learning. I raised so much from them – from fitness to mental toughness,” Rahul said. He scored Kohli’s fitness path for inspiring him to take the training more seriously, leading to an improvement in consistency across formats.
