
Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha made history at the 2026 FIFA U-19 World Cup during the match against Japan on Saturday 17 January. Chamuditha scored 192 runs, the highest individual score recorded in the history of the U19 World Cup, giving Sri Lanka a great start to the tournament.
Chamuditha’s feat surpassed the previous record of 191 set by Hasith Boyagoda against Kenya in 2018. The innings was notable for stamina and consistency as Chamuditha hit 26 fours and one six before being dismissed by Timothy Moore.
