Video showing rats that run through ingredients of ingredients in a renowned Sweet Shop in Lucknow, shocked the Internet and raised serious questions about food hygiene and safety.
‘Video is viral’
The clip, for the first time shared with food vlogger on the Instagram page of Taste of Street, captures the process of making Makhan Malai behind the scenes, a traditional winter delicacy beloved throughout the city. What starts as a typical food reel turns around when rats move freely through the exposed trays in ingredients. Shop workers can briefly see how rodents try before returning to work.
The video begins with a worker cutting the leaves Malai without wore gloves. Nearby, open trays filled with sweet filling are left exposed. In the middle of the video you can see a few rats that crawl on trays and move when employees continue to prepare food without suspension or discard contaminated objects.
The shots end by tasting the final product.
The viral video was the title: “Lucknow the famous Makhan Malai is doing from scratch.”
Internet users disgust, outrage
The shots quickly became viral and caused a flood of shocked and sarcastic reactions of viewers.
One user wrote, “My friend had it and said it was really tasty … that was his last words.”
Others commented: “Very hygienic”.
“They will never use disposable gloves,” one spectator said, while the other joked, “the poor mouse was fired for appearing on the camera. Now he demands payment for all the shit he left in the flour.”
“The extra taste just came,” another person joked.
One user expressed distrust and wrote, “Wait to let the mouse go through the food and continue to eat without throwing it off! No gloves or nothing wow. I want to vomit.”
Another viewer asked, “He puts on your hair net, but they won’t have gloves; where is the logic?”
Neither the trade nor the local food security officials have issued any public statements about the incident since now.
