The CBI took the probe into killing BJP Pradeep Mondal, Devdas Mondal and Sukant Mondal during violence after changing in Sandeskhali on Saturday (July 5, 2025).
The agency registered the first information report (companies) at the orders of the Supreme Court in Calcution 30 June.
The Joy Sengupt has ordered the Central Investigation Office (CBI) to present a special investigative team (SIT) to explore the case with “maximum severity”. The court stated that the investigation should be under the supervision of a common director.
Pradeep Mondal, Devdas Mondal and Sukant Mondal were found dead after an alleged attack on their village in Sandeshkhali, allegedly a crowd led by Mr. Sheikh.

The case was probed by CID Police of West Bengal, but families of victims turned to the Supreme Court in Calcutta looking for a CBI probe.
Mr. Sheikh was arrested on January 5, 2024, in the case of an alleged attack on officers for enforcement during his home raid in his home Sandeshkhali. Since then he has been in judicial custody.
“In the present case, which has an even more serious accusation, I found that the police failed to take steps against the main accused at various stages, which would lead to gross abortion of justice. It would not be in the interest of justice to give them the reins of the investigation,” Judge Sengupta.
He said that it seems that whenever the accusation is coped with the accused-sheikh-state police “the tendency to fit, whether in the above-mentioned case of the crowd against ED officials or in this case,”. “This cannot be distinguished between the local police (as in the previous case) or CID (as in the present case),” he said.
Several women in Sandeshkhali in 24 North Parganas, an island of river island around 80 km from Calcutta, reportedly grabbed the land and sexual abuse Sheikhem and his men who participate in fishing and fishing.
In January 2024, the ED officers were reportedly attacked and their vehicles were damaged when they went to the Sheikh residence to carry out a raid in connection with the fraud of more Crore.
The agency is already trying these three cases related to the ED team attacks.
