Villupuram MP to review central schemes at DISHA meeting

Villupuram Member of Parliament D. Ravikumar reviewed the various central schemes being implemented in the district at a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held at Villupuram on Monday.

The meeting reviewed the implementation and functioning of various programs under the ministries of rural development and panchayat raj, local government, Tangedco, agriculture, forest and animal husbandry, among others.

The allocation of funds under each scheme, ongoing work and progress made, apart from those that have been completed, were reviewed during the meeting attended by Collector Shiek Abdul Rahman.

The various union departments implementing the programs under the Union Government have been asked to ensure quality infrastructure work and that the programs reach the intended beneficiaries.

Mr. Ravikumar also directed the officials to expedite the completion of ongoing works under Housing for All and PM-JANMAN scheme. After reviewing the details of the houses allotted to the beneficiaries under the schemes and the current list of newly eligible beneficiaries, he instructed the officials to ensure that the pending houses are completed without delay.

He also said that basic civic amenities used by the public in rural panchayats, municipalities and town panchayats must be maintained in good condition at all times.

Funds allocated for the development of panchayats should be utilized properly. The development work must be completed within the stipulated time, in accordance with government guidelines and prescribed quality standards, with all departments working in coordination, he said.
