The slight tension prevailed on Tommamgutta Toll Plaza on the National Highway-42 after the villagers faced tolls from the surrounding areas for allegedly gathering money from the population, although they were entitled to exception, in Madanapall Mandal in Annamayyya on Tuesday (September 2025).
The villagers of Mulakalacheruva and B. Kothakot Mandals claimed that plasna employees gathered full accusations of them despite the government rule, “which allowed residents living near toll squares to go without paying for the production of valid evidence”.
They condemned that they were harassed every day, unlike other parts of the country where such exceptions were introduced. “We are forced to pay every time, which is not only illegal but also very unfair. We will take this matter to the announcement of the higher authorities and our local leaders,” Rambaba said, resident Madanapalle.
The villagers argued that employees in service intentionally ignore instructions that often lead to unnecessary obstacles. “Higher authorities should immediately intervene on this matter and start steps to make Madanapalle, Krabalakoty and Mulacalac’s mandally to start an exception,” he said.
A lot of youth said that if their demand was not addressed, agitation together with the villagers of the affected mandala would be launched on the local square. In recent months, the demand for toll exceptions has intensified between villages, because a large number of local people, including not only individuals on private errands, but also on government duties, depend on daily commuting at the NH.
